MSS Meal Program
Breakfast and lunch programs at school
The school district is able to offer the breakfast and lunch program through targeted funding provided by the provincial government, at your child’s school. Every morning, all students have access to breakfast items, fresh and local fruit as well as other options such as eggs, yogurt and scones depending on availability. The program is open to all students at no cost. Lunch is served daily in the cafeteria and includes vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, fresh fruit and vegetables.
Why the focus of breakfast and lunch? Research shows that breakfast and lunch:
- Improves Concentration and Focus. ...
- Helps Lift Your Mood. ...
- Helps Manage Your Appetite. ...
- Helps Your Heart. ...
- Improves Academic Performance. ...
- Boosts Your Immune System.

Why “free”?
Every student needs access to food. Students feel connected to school and the community through food. Food brings us together in a positive and healthy way.
Multiple families have reached out to ask how they can contribute to the breakfast and lunch programs. They have voiced their deep appreciation for the program as their student benefit from the program. The program can expand with donations from the community. We would like to add greater variety of breakfast and lunch foods to the program as well as making sure it is sustainable in the future.
If you have any questions, please contact your school principal.
